GTA 5 Achieves Highest Sales in Europe for July

GTA 5 is the most popular and successful video game developed by Rockstar Games in 2013. Since its initial release, the game has consistently maintained a strong sales trajectory, achieving over 185 million sales by this time.

Once again, it has secured the top spot on Europe’s sales chart for July 2023. According to a report from Gamesindustry.biz, GTA 5 earned the title of the best-selling game in Europe last month.

Another title from Rockstar Games, Red Dead Redemption 2, secured the third position on the list of best-selling games in July. Meanwhile, EA’s FIFA 23 claimed the second spot in this ranking.

The report also revealed that both GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2 were offered at discounted prices, a factor that likely played a role in driving their significant sales figures. The reduced prices could have enticed more people to purchase these games, thereby contributing to their notable success in terms of sales.

Pikmin 4 achieved the highest chart position among new games, claiming the 11th spot. However, the list did not include data for digital sales of Nintendo games. Consequently, the game’s ranking might have been even higher if these numbers were taken into account.

In July, a combined 11.6 million console and PC games were purchased, revealing a 34% surge in game sales across Europe compared to the corresponding timeframe in 2022. Digital downloads saw an impressive uptick of 60%, totaling around 7.9 million. On the other hand, physical sales experienced a marginal increase of 0.2%, accounting for a total of 3.75 million units sold.

Currently, discussions about the upcoming major release in the Grand Theft Auto series have sparked industry buzz. Fans are eagerly anticipating the release of GTA 6 within the next two years.
