Nintendo Switch Successor to Launch in the Second Half of 2024

Nintendo Switch Successor to Launch in the Second Half of 2024

The Nintendo Switch was released in 2017, and it proved to be the best video game console. Nowadays, various rumors about the launch of its successor are coming out, pointing toward the 2024 release.

Recently, a report from VGC has revealed that the Nintendo Switch Successor is targeted to be released in the second half of 2024.

Why is it important?

Earlier this year, Nintendo experienced a decline in sales of the Switch, so a new hardware launch is beneficial for Nintendo to reduce the loss.

Although more details about the console are not revealed, VGC mentions that it will be available in portable mode like its predecessor. According to the report, it will also be a handheld console like the Nintendo Switch and will have a cartridge slot for physical games.

Some sources also reported that instead of OLED, it will be launched with an LCD display. This is to reduce its manufacturing cost and to increase internal storage.

It was also reported that the key partner studios have received the development kits for the next console, and its launch is planned for the second half of 2024. This is because Nintendo wants to have an abundant stock available after release to avoid the shortage problem that the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S had to face at the time of their release.

Whether the new hardware will be backward compatible with the Switch or not, this thing is unclear, as Nintendo has not yet confirmed this. Some factors like Nintendo Account, digital libraries, and backward compatibility are very important for initial sales.

Reports claim that the progress in the development of the Switch Successor is going well, but it will not be released before 2024.
