Quake 2 Enhanced Edition Coming Soon, Announcement Expected At QuakeCon 2023

Quake 2 Enhanced Edition Coming Soon, Announcement Expected At QuakeCon 2023

Quake is a landmark in the history of video games, especially in the FPS genre. Since its debut in 1997, it has been a major influence on many FPS titles, shaping mechanics, gameplay styles, and map designs in subsequent games.

A recent leak from “billbil-kun” suggests that id Software will reveal the Quake 2 Remaster version at QuakeCon 2023. QuakeCon is an annual convention mainly dedicated to Quake, famous for surprise announcements such as the unexpected launch of the remastered edition of the original Quake during previous events.

The event will take place from August 10 to August 13 this year, and the announcement for Quake 2 Remaster is anticipated to be made on August 11.

Why is it important?

The announcement of the Enhanced edition is likely to generate more enthusiasm among players who have nostalgia for the original game. It will offer them the chance to revisit their favorite game with enhanced graphics and new content.

Billbil-kun claims that the expected name for the game will be “Quake 2,” and the word “Remastered” will not be used. However, the official name will be announced at QuakeCon.

In 2021, information about the Remastered edition of the original Quake was leaked before its official announcement. This leak happened due to the disclosure of information on the Entertainment Software Rating Board.

Recently, the Quake 2 Enhanced edition has appeared on the Game Rating and Admission Committee of Korea. History will probably repeat itself, and the Quake 2 Enhanced version will be announced at QuakeCon.

The game is expected to be released on all platforms, including PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch.
