Final Fantasy VII Rebirth serves as both a sequel to the FF VII Remake released in 2020 and as the second entry in a meticulously planned trilogy of games. This endeavor focuses on reimagining the beloved classic game from 1997, Final Fantasy VII.
The game is scheduled for release on February 29 of the upcoming year, sparking immense enthusiasm within the dedicated community of Final Fantasy fans. Recently, Square Enix heightened this excitement by revealing that the main storyline of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is projected to provide an experience spanning approximately 40 to 50 hours of gameplay.
Why is it important?
This information helps set player expectations for the game’s length. Knowing that the main story alone offers 40 to 50 hours of content allows potential players to assess the value they will receive from their purchase.
During an extensive interview with the BBC, Naoki Hamaguchi, the director of FF VII Rebirth, shared intriguing details about the expected game length. According to Hamaguchi-san, players can anticipate a main quest that will immerse them for a substantial 40 to 50 hours.
He also emphasized that for those who truly wish to explore every corner of the world and uncover all its aspects, the game is designed to offer an impressive total of approximately 100 hours of gameplay.
The development team has primarily focused on side content when crafting the game, introducing a greater volume of supplementary activities than ever before. The director disclosed that players may spend more time on these captivating side pursuits than they would on the central storyline.
The game is anticipated to take the original storyline in fresh and divergent directions. This strategic approach aims to offer players an entirely new and refreshing gaming experience.
Additionally, Hamaguchi clarified that the game wouldn’t initially adhere to the conventional concept of an open world. Instead, it will present vast and exploratory zones that expand in size as the player advances through the game.
The studio had earlier disclosed that the storyline of this game would reach its culmination within The Forgotten Capital. In the original game, players departed Midgar and ventured into the expansive overworld, visiting various locations, hubs, and towns throughout the world. It appears that many of these locales will also be prominently featured in Rebirth.
Rebirth is set to launch on the PlayStation 5 platform on February 29, 2024. Fans can anticipate an exclusive window for the game on Sony’s current-generation console, lasting for a minimum of three months.
